Dedication The Senior Class of 1966 are proud to dedicate our annual to Mr. A. Morris Gorden, our friend, adviser, and admired teacher. Through his profound interest In teaching and interest In our community, he has In- spired us to become better students and citizens. After graduation from the Big Falls High School In 1937, Mr. Gorden entered the University of Minnesota where he received a Bachelor of Science degree In 19- 41. He completed additional study summers at Min- nesota; University of Minnesota, Duluth; South Dakota School of Mines; and at Bemidjl State College from which he received a Master of Science degree In the summer of 1964. Mr. Gorden came to Blackduck In May, 1941, and taught agriculture then and the next year. In 1943, he married Miss Doris Morehouse, a Blackduck third grade teacher. They have three sons: Marc, a sen- ior at the University of Minnesota; James, a Black- duck senior; and Andy, a freshman at Blackduck High School. After three years In the army, 1943-46, Mr. Gor- den returned to Blackduck teaching agriculture and and general science. He has dropped agriculture and now has classes in chemistry, consumers' math, algebra, and senior math. 1951 saw the Gordens in Big Falls where he owned and operated a Red Owl Store. In 1958 they returned to Blackduck, he to teaching high school and she to elementary teaching remedial reading. A year's leave of absence and a grant from the Institute of the National Science Foundation In 1963 enabled Mr. Gorden to study at the University of North Dakota. Showing his interest in civic affairs, Mr. Gorden is a member oft the Masonic and the Elks Lodges; Headwaters Shrine Club; Aad Temple of Shrine, Duluth; Blackduck Legion Post, as past commander; Blackduck V. F. W. Post, as past commander; Scoutmaster, five years; Explorer Scout adviser, two years; Summer Blackduck Recreation Director, 1965; Golf Club, vice-president now and tournament manager for many vears; Stamp collecting, rock collecting and polishing, hunting, fishing, golf, and bowling are the many hobbies which Mr. Gorden enjoys. His sons join their father in many of these. The Gordens are members of the First Presbyterian Church where the whole family sing in the choir. Mr. Gorden, an elder, also belongs to the Men's Club of the church having served as president and secretary. Mrs. Gorden, James, Andy, Marc, Mr. Gorden
