BLACKBURN . DEDICATED TO: DR. JOHN V.G. FORBES Dr. John V. G. Forbes was, from 1949 to 1981, a pervasive and important force at Blackburn College. There was no important issue over the years on which John Forbes did not take a courageous and very visible stand. It mattered not whether the cause was popular, unpopular, or even boring to most — what counted was the underlying principle. For is ever a man lived by principle, it was John Forbes. He was not swayed by the winds of popular appeal — or by transient values — his actions were firmly based on what he conceived to be eternal principles. Compromise was not his forte. Yet, let us not picture him as a one-dimensional person — he was not. He was a gracious friend and host. His good humor could break forth in a hearty laugh as well as his disapproval could bring a thunderbolt. He loved Blackburn College and had great respect for its traditions which he strived to promote. He demanded the most — the best — from friends, colleagues and students. Most of all he inspired in us the vision of what we could become. It is this light that we dedicate this 1981-82 Beaver Tale yearbook to Dr. John Forbes who we loved and respected greatly. oul Haas f Information Admissions SENIORS UNDERCLASSMEN FACULTY CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS SPORTS ADS 109 127 Am c Bm eo mr pp = ¥ ; ——) Sah as i sis —_ fama ot ie SPECIAL THANKS!
