You try to implant in the students respect for themselves, their peers, teachers, families, and school. Some of the outstanding things you have achieved here include pur- chasing and installing lockers in each classroom and in the locker rooms, reconstructing the Guidance Office with a soundproof conference room, and installing a photography lab. You have also designed activity periods to include all the students during our ten week ski program, and instituted an Honors Banquet to recognize outstanding effort and achievement in scholastics, art, music, and extra-curricular activities. Due to your perseverance and enthusiasm for computers, we now have a fine program with nine computers. And we were proud to have been a part of the statewide computer convention held at B.R.H.S. last spring. Because your position as Principal at Black River High School has been successful, we would like to show our appreciation by dedicating the 1984 Banner to you. The old stereotype of the patrician gentleman with a graying mane and a string bow tie has vanished. Younger types are filling the benches today. They picked Yale Drama School students In New Haven to play the parts and two professors of drama, a retired Air Force coW el and a Defense Department ojicial In Washington. He returned to his permanent base in Puerto Rico to get ready for a third season of ten weeks opening Jan. 10. Pairing names with plays. Mr. Yellen so far has come up with the following: Gypsy Rose Lee in “Auntie Marne,” Boris Karloff in “On Borrowed Time,” Eddie Bracken in “The Teahouse of the August Moon,” Marcel Marceau, possibly Paul- ette Goddard in “The Man Who Came to Dinner,” Margaret O'Brien in “Gigi.” It took Mr. Yellen months to get some of these names for his festival. He had been trying to get Marceau for two years and he had been negotiating with Gypsy Rose Lee to play “Auntie Marne” since last December. When he gets the other plays and stars set for a ten-play season running through March 5, Mr. Yellen will return to New York and fill out the balance of an acting company to handle al! the supporting roles. That won’t take so long. Before he is through, however, he will have about seventy actors on his payroll, all but five or ten from the New York pool.
