Text from Pages 1 - 136 of the 1980 volume:

The Senior Class Reaches Out to a New Decade With The 1980 Banner You greeted us with a smile and a joke every time you saw us, but it was your countless hours of work for our school that we couldn’t see. The many insights you gave us will long be remembered as will the courage and the power to move ahead and work harder. We’ll leave Black River now, but we can leave with our heads high and our hearts strong. It is with great pleasure that we, the Class of 1980, dedicate this Banner to you, Mr. Houghton Pearl. To the “big man” on campus, who helped pull us through those seemingly meaningless science classes and revealed the light at the end of the tun- nel. You showed us the true meaning of dedication through your actions as crossing guard and teacher, acts which we shall never forget. It is with great pride that we, the senior class, dedicate the 1980 Banner to Mr. William Cra- zier. 3 When a friend calls to me from And slows his horse to a mean- ing walk, I don't stand still and look around O v On all the, hills I haven't rfoed, fwh hout from where I am, I 'What is it?' No, not as there is a time to talk. I thrust my hoe in the mellow ground. Blade end up and five feet talF, And plod: I go up to the stone wall For a friendly visit. — Robert Frost ADMINISTRATION RAYMOND PACKERT Principal HOUGHTON PEARL Superintendent ROXANA TOFFERI Assistant Principal SECRETARIES ANITA PICKIELNOK SHIRLEY MERRIAM VERONICA DALTON PRISCILLA DOWNS 7 ENGLISH DEPART- MENT CHARLES BOSTOCK JOHN LASKEVICH DANIEL ROSE VIRGINIA GURDAK STEPHANIE ROWE ROBERT FRAPPIER ELIZABETH RENAUD SCIENCE DEPART- MENT JOSEPH GURDAK SOCIAL STUDIES DEPART- MENT ELAINE PACE STEWART SCHMIDT SUSAN POLLENDER Your education begins when what is called your education pnrlc WILLIAM CROZIER HENRY KRAFT 9 MATH DEPART- MENT THE ARTS JACQUELINE SCHMIDT ROXANA TOFFERI DAVID BAKER ANTHONY VALENTE CINDY CHAFFEE NANCY PHELAN 10 GILBERT JOHNSON KIM PIKE Education should be as grad- ual as the moon- rise, perceptible not in progress but in result.
