Jeff is here no more, likewise not intombed in this earth. But has opened a door, to a new and beautiful birth. MR. DeCASTRO: It is with sincere appreciation that we dedicate this book to one who has left memorable impressions in our sophomore and junior years at Black River High School. To you, Mr. DeCastro, we dedicate the 1970 Banner. MR. F1RKEY: It has been your guidance and your advice that has made these years at Black River High School memorable. In appreciation and with due respect, we dedicate to you the 1970 Banner. Message Jrom the Principal In this present world of trial and insulation - the emergence of the common man to his rightful place in society - it behooves each and everyone of us to be aware of the equality of man, and the right to life, liberty, and justice. This awareness is just the beginning. As graduates you will be stepping out into the world to become involved with these matters, hopefully prepared to overcome obstacles, and suitably prepared to assist all in their search for the better things in life. May your first step be a big one! Message Srorn the Superintendent Congratulations, Black River High School seniors! You have completed all of your public school education and you are now ready to go on to big- ger and better things. I wish you success. Success is something that must be measured by the individual and not by society. What is one man’s success could be another man’s failure. We ask you all to aim higher than you think you are capable of achieving and, then, be happy with your attainment, for if vou do not aim higher than you can achieve, you will not know how far you could have gone had you tried. I hope all of you will have in your possession the keys needed to un- lock the doors that will confront you the rest of your life. May you all achieve the goals that you have set for yourselves! 4 Senior Address PARENTS, TEACHERS AND FRIENDS: In this era, when man is advancing so rapidly, we would like to express our appreciaition for the opportunity to grasp some of the knowledge that will be the foundation for the future. Then, when we look back, it will be with gratitude and respect for those who have given their time and effort to help us. I would personally like to congratulate my fellow seniors and wish next year’s seniors the best of luck. {Junior Response We. the class of 1971, regret to see you leave after the many years we have spent together. In the becoming of seniors, we will try to maintain the standards ofleadership and responsibility which you have so earnest- ly achieved here at B.R.H.S. May we express to each of you every success in your many en- deavors throughout life. 5 Senior Monors Boys State FRANK ELLISON PETER PULLINEN Betty Crocker Montemaking Award JEAN CROWLEY ID.A- B. food Citizenship Award DIANNE CHAMBERS Model U.
