Our Past We were freshmen, green and new, But determined to see it through. We returned as sophomores, full of cheer. Completely ready for another year. Junior year was busy and tough, But when we left, we knew our stuff. We passed senior year with a heavy heart. Knowing that soon we'd have to part. In 1961 we entered Black River High School with 54 boisterous freshmen. We were looking forward to learning many great facts of knowledge and to having fun. Our freshman year was highlighted by the Freshman Reception which will never be forgotten. Arthur Ziener was elec- ted president for the year with Paul Butler, Cheryl Goodrich, and Matry Hoffman serving as vice-president, secretary, and treasurer, respectively. Arthur Ziener was our only student council representative. The summer passed and we returned as confident, devilish sophomores. This year, instead of being on the receiving end, we doled out--lipstick, vinegar and onion rings to the green freshmen at the reception. Our four undaunted leaders were Mike Frye, president; Kenny Tofferi, vice-president; Cheryl Goodrich, secretary; Mari Heikkinen, treasurer. Lee Ann Lannon, Rogers Baker and Mike Frye were student council representatives. Our sophomore year ended with a festive picnic. Our junior year proved to be the most difficult of our high school career, but with deter- mination we saw it through. We chose Balfour Company for our rings, and we were all very proud of them. Our main event for the year was our Junior Prom entitled Roman Holiday. Thanks to the endeavors of our class, the outcome was sensational. Our class was prodded on by the leadership of our officers: Cheryl Goodrich, president; Paula Dockum, vice-president; Dianne Billings, secretary; and Rick Hains, treasurer. Our student council representatives were Lee Ann Lannon, Cheryl Goodrich, Pat Farrar, and Marty Hoffman. We returned for our last year at Black River as intelligent, sophisticated seniors. We were well occupied with pictures, invitations, and working on the yearbook. Our officers for the last year were Joe Gurdak, president; Leo Barrows, vice-president; Donna Parker, secretary; Rogers Baker, treasurer. We were represented in the student council by Lee Ann Lannon, Joe Gurdak, Mari Heikkinen, Marty Hoffman, and Cheryl Goodrich. The year was highlighted by parties and pumpkin raids. Before we had any realization of the fact, we had very quickly completed four years at Black River High School. So it is with sad adieu that we say farewell to our classmates and teachers.
