AN OPEN LETTER TO THE CLASS OF 1964 Dear Seniors, Your yearbook should be regarded as one of life’s important milestones. Con- tained within the pages of your Banner are recorded some of the events, happenings, pictures that are representative of your secondary school experiences. In effect, your yearbook, as does a milestone, represents both the conclusion to one phase of your life and the starting of another mile along the path of life. You are about to conclude that phase of your experiences associated with the Black River High School. During the time spent here you should not only have been learning academic facts but you should also have been developing along with others, and finally learning to take your place in society as a responsible citizen. I hope that you have learned these lessons well. After graduation each of you will be starting out to reach a new milestone along the path of life. Which ever path you choose: marriage, armed services, employment, or further education, I wish you every success. Nothing in life comes easily. You will have to strive with effort to achieve the successes you desire. Striving for success requires both a goal and the continued self-discipline to achieve your goal. In wishing each of you personal success as you set out for new milestones along the path of life, I urge you to make use of that which you have learned in school, to set your goals high, and to maintain the self-discipline needed to achieve these goals. To the Class of 1964: THE FUTURE IS YOURS. Sincerely, Alan H. Weiss Superintendent

Dedication It is an honor to pay tribute to one who has become such a genuine part of Black River High School. Her interest in her stu- dents and her willingness to help them have endeared her to all who have come under her influence. Because she means so much to so many, we the Senior Class dedicate this 1964 BANNER to Mrs. Roxana Tofferi.

litessape r7.'ro n t ie Jjrincipaf The will to success means the will to work faith- fully and joyously with other people. The lone wolf is seldom the happy or successful worker. Most people live lives that are fashioned by the busy hands of others. To keep one’s place, to do one’s share, to preserve the peace, to add a little to the world’s joy, is to help in preparing the conditions that will lead you to happiness and the respect of others. I give you the key words to a successful future. You must have fortitude and in- tegrity in your associations with people - and as in your classrooms, you must contribute, Contribute, and CON- TRIBUTE!
