BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION Steve Schaefer flnstructorj I teach Business Administration at Black Hawk East. I have entered teaching here because I desired to find out whether I would enjoy teaching as a lifetime profession before continuing with a Ph.D. I believe that actual exper- ience in practical business situations should supplement text book theoriesg therefore, I have conducted with my classes a series of marketing surveys, price comparisons, and financial position papers. In the near future I will be pur- suing a Ph.D. at Berkeley. BUSINESS OCCUPI-XTIONS Carolyn Beechler flnstructorj I joined Black I-Iawk East Faculty in September of I970. This is my first year of teaching on a junior college level. I had previously taught business education in Michigan, Missouri and Illinois for a total of five years. In my courses I try to teach what I feel is important as a result of the several years of secretarial experience I have had. In the future I hope to continue graduate study and my college teaching. I was awarded my B.S. degree from Western Illinois University and my MA. degree from Michigan State University. 22

A ,r-115 04 W MUSIC Fenton Fly flnstructorl I received my Bachelor of Music Education degree at Wichita State- Univer- sity, my Master of Music Education degree at Indiana University and my Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Missouri. My current position is at the Kewanee Community Unit Schools teaching Instrumental and Vocal Music, but I have taught part-time at Black Hawk East every semester that it has been in operation. Mrs. Dorothy Smith flnstructorj I have taught all the art courses that have been offered at Black Hawk East since its beginning, until this year. Now I only wish to teach part-time, so I have two classes a week: Art Appreciation and Two Dimens- ional Design first semester, and Craft Workshop and Two Dimensional Design second semester. I love teaching and am happiest when teaching. Other interests are collecting and reading art books. AGRICULTURE Eldon R. Aupperle fCoordinator of Agriculture Education and Chairman of Occupational Programsj I am the Chairman of the Occupational Programs and my duties are to coordinate courses and supervise the faculty members under my program. I also articulate with four year colleges and universities for the purposes of program improve- ment. I review with the provost applications of new faculty members. Before coming to the college in 1967 as an original staff member I taught at Buckley-Loda and Warren high schools. I also was a Vo-Ag. Instructor at Wabash Valley College in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. I received my B.S. and 1Vl.S. and am presently doing graduate studies at the University of Illinois. 23
