PHYSICAL EDUCATION William L. Kruse fAssociate Professorl I was awarded my BA. degree from the University of Iowa and my MA. degree from the University of Kentucky. I have been with the college since 1969, having taught on the junior high level for nine years, at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and Lees Junior College in Kentucky. I teach men and women's Physical Education, First Aid, I-Iealth, Golf, Track and Field, and Basketball. My other duties are head basketball coach and athletic director. This summer I expect to earn my Ph.D. from Indiana University. 1-K-eff X PSYCHOLOGY Curtis D. Hulteen fAssistant Professorj I am currently teaching what I feel is an innovation in the teaching field. It is a Psychology course in which students that have already shown proficiency in the General Psychology are working as proctors to students currently taking the course. The advantage of this type of course is that large groups of students can be handled at one time, yet individual attention can be given to each student. I was awarded my B.S. and M.S. degrees from Illinois State University. I am working on my Ph.D. in behavior modification at Southern Illinois University. I joined the staff in 1968. we ff ...ny M

MATHEMATICS Doug Sergeant flnstructorj Life is not a 'static process', why should education be so? To understand my philosophy of education, one must first be aware of my twofold definition of the term. First, I feel that education should help you become a more responsible person, a person who is able to recognize his responsibilities to propagate our society. In my teaching field, Mathematics, I am constantly seeking answers to various problem-situations whose solutions are arrived at by a sequential process. I feel mathematics should be taught for various sequences or patterns, which should be studied, in the hope, that the student will discover a process that will work for him when dealing with problem-situations in life. Once the onosphere fmindl has been trained to analytically solve problems, it will go through these processes automatically if allowed to do so. 20 John E. Bonebrake fAssistant Professor! I was brought up in Erick, Oklahoma, and received my B.S. degree at Southwestern State College at Weatherford, Oklahoma in 1963 with majors in both biology and chemistry. Ireceived an M.S. degree in 1967 from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale with a major in zoology and a minor in botany. My master's thesis was done in the area of herpetologyg this study has been accepted for publication in the JOURNAL OF MORPI-IOLOGY. I am presently teaching general biology and introduction to chemistry classes and working on the organization of laboratories, materials, and equipment for these courses.
