‘7 am the Mystic . . . The eternal embodiment of B.J.C. mortality. Those living in my halls become me, and I become them — 2 Feelings of conquest to learn, knowing that fill you as, together, we knowledge and under- achieve our goal. I standing will help you sense your desire reveal life to others. I’m filled with pride when you speak openly. I You will learn to govern 1 wisely and fairly. dWendell Frustration is a part of your world, and therefore is part of me. It teaches patience. I see you neglect things that are ours. Sometimes you haven't respect for that which has been given you. My people, you are young, and, as genera- tions past have learned so shall you. 9 BJC Is North Dakota State Junior College Champions Founded upon the assumption that the team with the most points wins, the “Me- land Men” commenced the 70-71 season. What was considered a rebuilding year around returning guard Mike Montgom- ery progressed into a very competitive con- ference. Freshmen Rich Condo, Steve Bratlein, and Arnold Freelander put to- gether their talents to help lead in the play. This year saw the beginning of what probably will be a long rivalry with Mary College. Twice the Mystics proved their competitiveness with victories over the Marauders. New school spirit and a feeling of unity added to the basketball season’s success. The boy was played by Tom Porter and the mother by June Schock, both of Mandan. The story really begins as three wise men (portrayed by Clyde Bauman, Wendell Hendershott, and Ran- dy Nicolai) arrive at the mother and son's door. The mother thinks they are a fig- ment of her son’s vivid imagination, but soon recognizes the kings by the rich gifts they are taking to the newborn babe, the Christ Child. She attempts to steal some of their gold to bring food for her son while the kings sleep, but is caught. When they explain to her, she begs forgiveness and wishes she too had a gift to send. The boy also wants to give Him a gift, but owns nothing but a crutch he uses for sup- port. He eventually gives up his crutch and a miracle follows. Stage crew plays important role Backstage: How to Create Theater Magic A seldom seen but very important part of theater production is the work done by the technical crews. It is up to them to make the scenic aspects of theater believ- able to the always skeptical audience. All backgrounds must be planned and then constructed and painted to create a setting suitable for the atmosphere the players will create to tell their story. After the play, the hard but rewarding work is not ended. Stage crew then proceeds to take the set down. The set is reduced to a pile of nails, a few flats, and stray pieces of mus- lin. Stage crew is ready to start work on the next play. 57 Year’s major project Art Club Takes Over Christmas Decorating Job Art Club members tackled the mam- moth project of decorating the school halls for Christmas.
