mzn JAY-CEE-AN Published by the Students of Bismarck Junior College Editor: Bob Barclay Bismarck Junior College Bismarck, North Dakota Volume — 27 Foreword Life at Bismarck Junior College, from the long registration lines in September to the last exam in May, cannot possibly be revealed between the covers of a single book. For each individual the story is different. But something will be familiar to all of us, the long cold walks to the park- ing lot and the warmth of informal chats over hot chocolate and coffee in the lounge. We, the annual staff, have tried to put together some of the most in- teresting aspects of life at Bismarck Junior College: joy, sadness, victory, and defeat. These phases, an integral part of our pursuit of knowledge, compose the essence of the 1966 Jay-Cee-An. FACULTY AND ADMINISTRATION CLASSES ORGANIZATIONS SPORTS ACTIVITIES 2 '■''■' ’'’ ’'For the enrichment of knowl- edge through the cultural arts.” In jdedicatory attempts, the risk of being over lauditory is usually present. However, in the dedica|iQ|l of the 1966 Jay-Cee-an too rji 0i praise would not be possible for these two individuals. Their contributions to the city of Bismarck are well known. For these we honor them. As faculty and students ofBJ.C., we feel deeply grateful to them. Through their generosity and desire for education, we were able to build an extension now nousing one of the fin- est. most modern Fine Arts Centers in the state of North Dakota. In deep and sincere appreciation, we, the faculty and student body of Bismarck Junior College do dedicate this yearbook to Milton and Norma Rue. May tne light of their virtues re- main within us forever. f ';. Personable and efficient, Dean Werner possesses many qualities above and beyond those required of a dean. His life was truly one of honor. Graduate of West Point in 1929, Recipient of the Battle Star Award at Pearl Harbor; Legion of Merit, Korea Silver Star, Korea Commander of United Nations troops in Korea Director of Infantry Training in Siam China. In Memoriam To Dr. (Colonel) Wilson Scholar, Teacher, Friend, Colleague: The passing of Colonel Wilson causes all of us to reflect that “Memory is the Essence of a Lifetime.” It is difficult to tell in words what Dr. Wilson represented to all of us. Only the effect of years of reflection upon his teaching of young people can truly reveal his greatness as a teacher and friend. Perhaps a quotation from Robert Browning will say better what we feel: Man is a success who lives well, laughs often and loves much; Who gains the respect of intelligent men and the love of little children; Who fills the niche and accomplishes his task. And leaves the world better than he found it, Whether by an improved poppy, a perfect poem or a rescued soul; Who never lacks appreciation for the earth’s beauty and never fails to ex- press it; Who always gives the best he has and sees the best in others; This man’s life was an inspiration; his memory a benediction. This quotation from Browning, we as students and faculty at BJC, dedicate to our friend. Colonel Wilson. — ESKY SOLBERG 62 63 Another three hours and we might have this annual done in time to meet the deadline. Advisor: Laura Gilbreath Editor: Bob Barclay Assoc.
