IN MEMORIAM GEORGE «ILL 1884- 1955 George Will, business man, community builder, scholar, and gentleman, was a descendant of colonial ancestors who founded our nation. He and his parents were among those pioneers who helped found our state on the endur- ing patterns which exemplify the best of American traditions. George Will took a special interest in the history of the Indian, the fur trader and explorer, and the pioneer. He made a life-long study of the ag- ricultural sciences that were of benefit to those who lived in the Upper-Mis- souri region. He promoted schools, libraries, and engaged in scientific and historical research. Even his close friends did not always realize the recognition he received nationally for his achievements. He loved North Dakota and took delight in camping and tramping over the prairies and along the historic Missouri River. He loved his home, and it was there he would be found in the evenings--unless he was attending a civic meeting--writing, reading in his excellent library, or engaged in good con- versation with his family and friends. He was modest, generous, and kindly, and his great purpose in life seemed to be that of service for others. It is to the memory of George Will that we dedicate the Jay-Cee-An.
