Text from Pages 1 - 65 of the 1953 volume:

J'Qtewohd Education is the one safe investment which all can agree increases in value to the in- dividual who acquires a broad education based on a cultural basis. From great instructors and books that have stood the test of time, from the church and its spiritual guidance, from noble community and national leaders, the youth of the nation acquires the beliefs and ideals which become the earmarks of a cultured and educated individual. The true greatness of a school, then, is imparted to the individual by the spirit of its students and faculty. This spirit is found within these walls of Bismarck Junior College. (D diccdion MR. JACK O. RIEDEL ”Herr Deutscher Professor” Ever since the school was founded up to the present, Mr. Riedel has been the in- stigator of Bismarck Junior College. He has taught nearly every subject ever offered and is now head of the Language Department, teaching English and German, in addition to being Assistant Dean. Mr. Riedel, the class of 195 3 dedicates its yearbook to you in appreciation of your priceless gifts of knowledge, understanding, and helpfulness, given from your tireless be- ing, which are stamped upon us too in some measure, guide our lives and the lives of those before and after us. We hope your fondest ambitions will be realized in the future of this school, which you have fostered and in the lives of those whose growth you have so unselfishly nour- ished. T. E. SIMLE Superintendent of Schools SIDNEY J. LEE Dean RALPH WERNER Registrar MRS. CURTICE MURPHY Secretary 9n WlsmahiaM Dr. N. O. Ramstad 1875-1952 Dr. N. O. Ramstad was a great citizen of North Dakota. His name will live in the memory and hearts of grateful men and women to whom he ministered as a surgeon and physician. The Quain and Ramstad Clinic stands as a perpetual monument to him and other pioneer medical men. But in the Bismarck Junior College, Dr. Ramstad’s name will long be revered. Our school was a project close to his heart, and in time and material assistance he gave freely to this institution in order that the youth of Bismarck and Mandan might be given greater educa- tional opportunities. Because of leaders like Dr. N. O. Ramstad, with their belief in American democracy, its institutions and people, our state and nation is reaching great heights in spiritual and material importance.
