Part of the celebration includes serving cake and lemonade to all students. 1836 - Arkansas Sesquicentennial - 1986 Arkansas, The students and faculty of Bismarck 4 Happy Birthday Arkansas wish you a Happy Birthday!! In Memoriam Christina Gibbs Born: January 21, 1978 Died: December 15, 1985 Should Angels Call I'll lend you for a little while A child of Mine, He said. For you to love the while she lives, And mourn for when she's dead. It may be six or seven years Or twenty two or three, But will you, till I call her back, Take care of her for me? She'll bring her charms to gladden you, And should her stay be brief, You’ll have her lovely memories As solace for your grief. I cannot promise she will stay, Since all from earth return. But there are lessons taught down there I want this child to learn. I’ve looked this wide world over In my search for teachers true, And from the throngs that crowd life’s lanes, I have selected you; Now will you give her all your love, Not think the labor vain Nor hate Me when I come to call And take her back again? I fancied that I heard them say, Dear Lord, Thy will be done, For all the joy Thy child shall bring, The risk of grief we ’ll run. We’ll shelter her with tenderness, We’ll love her while we may, And for the happiness we’ve known Forever grateful stay. But should the Angels call for her Much sooner than we planned, We’ll brave the bitter grief that comes And try to understand. Author Unknown In loving memory of Christina Gibbs and 6 In Memoriam her Grandmother Mildred Gibbs ... The yearbook staff proudly dedicates the 1985-86 YESTERYEARS to Dr. Frank Mitchell and his family: Sharon, Michael, and Carla. The student and faculty with grateful appreciation acknowledge Dr. Mitchell’s leadership and dedication to the improvement of the educational opportunities at Bismarck. Dedication Board Of Education BOARD OF EDUCATION: Left to right: Stan Smith, President Kenneth Bray. Gerald Bunn, Vice-President Deal Horton, Wayne Hughes, and Wynona Lambert. Secretary. Dr. Frank MitchellSuperintendent I)r. Frank Mitchell As I attempt to put into perspective my experience as superintendent of the Bismarck School District, the thought of being responsible for and or to 700 students, around 70 employees, and a community weighs heavily on my mind. Such responsibility has often been the source of great satisfaction and also of tremendous burden. Making the difficult decisions which accompany this responsibility has been a challenge and a valuable learning experience. I have a genuine concern for the students, staff, and patrons of this school system because, in essence, 1 have invested four years of my life in the system. The past cannot be recovered; therefore, my concern is for the future. I would measure any success I have attained by how well our students and school system have been prepared to cope with the future. Anxiety, tension, and depression dominate the lives of the victimized Junior Class. ACT Test, PSAT Test, ASVAB Test, classes such as speech, advanced math and chemistry play with the minds as well as the sanity of the juniors. Where should I go to college? How am I going to finance it? What classes should I take? Should I live on campus? Will I get a scholarship? These are the questions in the minds of all juniors. Something rules the lives of those in the eleventh grade. STRESS is taking over those juniors.
