B.H.S. Moves Forward Football is newer to Bismarck having started about twenty-two years ago. Since then we have been honored with trophies of many kinds which are on display in the gymnasium. In 1953 Bismarck had its first homecoming, henceforth it has been one of the highlights of the school year. Much hard and diligent work goes into the making of this one day affair. The Yesteryear also a worthy tradition, was first published in 1945. Without this book perhaps we could not recall the events quite as vividly as the annual enables us to do. We the 1970-71 Yesteryear Staff take our hats off to Tradition , but we must keep B.H.S. on the move. . . 7

Traditions Remain As The 1970-71 Yesteryear Staff chose B.H.S. On The Move” as our theme for this year's book. We, as everyone else, realize time is moving and things have to change, but we hold dear a few things called traditions. Perhaps the most important tradition at Bismarck is making true and lasting friendships, not only with our peers but also with our teachers who help keep that valuable tradition learning ever growing in our minds. Basketball and football are traditions we are very proud of. Without sports B.H.S. would be somewhat lacking. The first basketball games Bismarck participated in were played on outside courts sometime in the early 1930's.
