On Thursday, October 16, the '69-70 Junior Homecoming and coronation was held. The theme for this event was a patriotic one. The stage was decorated in red, white and blue. The queen, Karen Williams, and maids, Brenda Henson, Patty Glasgow, Beverly Anthony, Libby Hughes, Diane Looper, and Debra Godwin, further carried out the scheme. Karen wore a white dress with blue accessories. The maids wore red and blue coatdresses. The effect was impressive. Steve Smith was the announcer for the coronation. Karen was crowned by Captain Weldon Prince to reign over the event of the day. Following the coronation was a brief pep rally led by the Junior cheerleaders, Holly Hunt, Lana Smith, Pam Henson, Annette Risner, Kay Anderson, and Diane Allen. The boarding house reach For many years now thirteen-year-old Wilbur Maxwell has wanted a bicycle. But he still couldn't persuade Mama and Papa to jar down—to get him one. So, when Papa was called away for a week-long business trip. Mom was persuaded to go with him for sort of a honeymoon, and the house was left in charge of sister Connie and sister Betty Lou, Wilbur got his idea. He would make his own money and buy his own bicycle. He would open up a boarding house right here. So into the paper went the ad, and that night the whole Maxwell house was crawling with people. Now every room in the house was full, Wilbur was doing a bang up business, and then it happened. Mama and Papa Maxwell, at two o'clock of the next morning came dragging home—Papa forgot his briefcase. From there on out, it was one mess after another. Finally, it was discovered somebody in the house was a bank robber, and poor Papa was mistakenly carted off to the clink. What a mess until the real bank robbers, Limpy and Nora McGuire, were found, Papa got out of jail, and Wilbur got his bicycle.
