ANNIE WALLIS, First Henderson State Teachers College, Arkadelphia, Arkansas SENIORS In September 1933 group of intelligent and annoying aix-year old children began their educational career under the direction of Mr• Luther Ward. Now in 19U5 fourteen members are graduating from Bismarck High School. They are: Betty Anderson, Clifford Gardner, Oma Gardner, Noble Dean Holt, Mildred Kindred, Bettie Sue King, Faye Massey, Gifford Montgomery, Lubie Morrison, Lois Sheets, Maurine Sheets, Loyd Smith, Ovus Sanders, and Vanoe Williams. Many have dropped out and many have started since 1933« Oma and Clifford Gardner moved to Section Hill after going here in the first grade, but rejoined us in the fifth grade. In 1936, Mildred Kindred enrolled in the sixth grade after attending another sohool for three years. Lois Sheets and Bettie Sue King started to school at Bismarck in the sixth grade after going to Section Hill. Vanoe Williams began here in 1937 in the sixth grade. Betty Anderson has gone to many schools but always returned to Bismarck before each year was up. That leaves only Lubie Morrison, Maurine Sheets, Loyd (Pete) Smith, Ovus Sanders, and Noble Dean Holt who have gone to sohool all their twelve years at Bismarck. These U merry little ohlldrwi will go out and make the world a better plaoe in which to live—we hope I AS OTHERS SEE YOU To stand upon the brink of a great career, won't somebody please push me off. Be a live wire, where yc . won't get stepped on. Preoious things come in small packages. A strioking personality with a winning grace. With her every ready smile, Mildred's presence is worthwhile. A;, peare quiet and studious, but appearances are often deceitful. Charms stride the sight, but merit wins the soul. If a light heart lives long, there's a long life for Lubie. Her musio talks and that doesn't mean that she's always silent. Ambition rules his life and his aims are high and true. Large of frame, broad of mind, big of heart and always kind. I may be shy, but so was Lindbergh. Odis Echols s Melody Boys Quartette was sponsored by the sophomores. The olass owes, and wants to thank Mrs. L. K. Ogden, Its sponsor, for her oooperation. Tournament Doylo Hcnderaon S c'f +« Vocational Agriculture Bismarck sohool began September 18, 19UU for the school year 19UU-L5 The Vocational Agrioulture boys, under the supervision of their new instructor, Waymon Holloway, began the year with classroom work which kept them busy in study of production, agriculture, and conservation of natures' resources—especially soil and water—for the first semester. At the beginning of the seoond semester the entire class had begun working in the shop making what-not shelv-and ash trays, varnished to a glossy natural oolor. Some small cedar boxes were made for letter boxes, handkerchle boxes, or anything one wished to use them for. There were so many such art ides made that one could not give a fai. estimation as to the number. There have been twelve large oedar chests started in the Junior-Senior Claes that will be completed by, or before, school is out, and four in the sophomore olaes. These chests will range in prioe, or value, anywhere from $20 t« $32.50. The freshmen boys carried out a cooperative project in meat production by buying fifty baby chicks, of whioh the; raised forty-four to marketable eixe. Eight of these ohioks were reserved to entertain the entire ninth grade class 1r Vocational Agriculture and Home Economics. Three registered Poland China pigs were purchased by the entire F. F. A. Chapter as a cooperative projeot. These pigs will be sold at the end of sohool and the profits, if any, will be placed in the Chapter's funds for the purpose of paying some of the expenses while in camp next summer at Camp Couchdale. In a meat production contest sponsored by the Arkansas Chain Store Council last fall, Bismarck F. F. A. Chapter was awarded a $50 War Bond for having as a member the winner for the Southwest District and the winner for the .ite in meat production. This winner was Lewis Sutton, who w s awarded a $25 War Bond for the distriot winner, and a $50 War Bond as the State winner. The F. F. A. boys are keeping in mind that if Lewis oan win prises as valuable as U. S. War Bonds, they also can win a like contest, and someone is going to have some competition when the Arkansas Chain Store Council begins to Judge some reoord books on Meat Production next fall. ome Economics Bismarck High School's Home Economics Club girls are proud of their achievements in olass work accomplished under the directions of Mrs. 3. K. Gilbert, Home Economics teacher. These girls who are preparing to be skilled home makers of tomorrow, have earnestly strived to meet the standard that is required of a Home Economics student. All the olasses have done excellent work in the completion of a oourse of learning the fine arts of sewing and oooking, by starting the year with the making of woolen dresses, suits, and ootton uniforms. The study of costume and design, family relations, the advantages of right manner of social oontaot, and the importance of forming good habits toward being well-groomed are some of the things that the girls consider an asset to everyday life. These are some things that they have learned In their class work. Social Activities of the Home Economics Club Social activities for this school year have consisted of several different parties. A Christmas party and ar. Amateur Hour have been two of the outstanding socials of this year's Home Economics Club. The Home Economics girls showed skill in preparing meals for visiting basket ball teamsj served a Faculty lunch eon; and experimented with various types of dishes. THE END The making of new spring dresses ends the year with a score of successes for eMoh girl. Joys and duties will not be forgotten and these future Home Economists present themselves as a gift to this great nation—America I __r;. c h a f t e r OFFICERS All District v H i u 0 yr E H m s rv i STUDIOUS D 0 Y L E N R S r CUTEST POPULAR STUDIOUS Ylt ' j||==!J Ji== GIRLS’ BASKETBALL Bismarck Senior Girl basket bell teen hed e Tory auooeeeful season, winning 53 out of 39 genes played.
