On the pages of this book, you will find the combined efforts of the annual staff with George included. As in the past, the first period has been spent in Mrs. Anderson's room with the bustle and fury of a deadline coming up. We have tried to bring to you the events of the past year, with some pictures and what seems to be a lot of hot air. As you look through this production try to remember that this is a book for you to remember: a record of glad and sorrowful times which you have had this year. We have the people who tried to drive a few facts into our heads and we have the spare time activities in which we partici- pated. There, now that the spiel is over, we just wish to say thanks and if there are any complaints just close the book and put it away for twenty five years and youill never notice them. --vw' CAboveJ SEATED: Sharon Luke. Each member works enthusiastically to make the plays better than any pre- ceding, and they've done a good job. Playmakers is under the direction of jean Gents this year, and was assisted by Myron Bietz until he joined the army second semester. Their major efforts were put into I Remember Mama, a charming comedy, and later on, they pro- duced a children's play for the University Women, en- titled The Emperor's New Clothes. Another project accomplished by these would-be actors was a one-act play for the speech festival. JEAN GENTZ -62 Rancy Boyd-Snee, program chairman, Joanne Register vice-pres.g Alan Pike, president, Mary jane Fuhlbrugge secretary: Sandy Dillavou, treasurer. During rehearsals, the play casts can be found camped out on the stage of the Fresh- man Study Hall practicing lines with all the fervor of Shakespearean actors. After they graduate from the study hall to the gym, stage hands and prompters are added. As you can see from the picture below, prompters are very essential and make it easier for the actors. Another feature added this year to give variety to Playmaker meetings, is little plays and specialty acts. At left is a scene from a one-act thriller, Who Stole the Salad Dress- ing? The activities of Homecoming Day began with the crowning of Queen Barbara Paulsen. Queen Barb was attended by her royal court: Jacque Olson, Liz Burke, Linda Tomlin, and Sharon Tomlin. The Queen began her royal duties by leading the homecoming parade, which included the band and many floats, through the streets of Bismarck. After a rousing snake dance, the evening game was graced with the presence of the Queen at the half time ceremony and to keep the evening ever so gay, the Bismarck Demons defeated the XY'illiston Coyotes by a score of 18 to 13. Adding the finishing touch to a perfect evening was the Homecoming Ball, with the Queen reigning, Gloria Again, for the 20th annual production, the students of Bismarck High School have thrilled the people of Bis- marck with the presentation of Gloria, under the direc- tion of Miss Louise Johnson assisted by Mr. Boyd Gregor directing the music. Gloria tells the story of a fourth wise man, Saradan, who has lost his way to Bethlehem and wanders to the campfire of a shepherd who has stayed to care for a dying lamb. While Saradan warms himself at the fire, Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist, fleeing with her baby, finds the fire. She is closely followed by the soldiers of King Herod, who have been ordered to kill all the boy babies. Sacrificing his gifts meant for the Christ Child, Saradan saves the life of the babe.
