Scion! I VZ, We have entered a new era in our lives-the Atomic Age. In dedicating the 1948 Prairie Breezes to the Future, We do so with the prayer that our generation shall lay' the foundation that will make it a blessing rather than a curse to mankind. MJ ? . P gdemafzod Sched 23 Faculty, 16 Students, 359 gcbmafzci my soma Faculty, 32 Students, 738 The foreword of the 1923 Prairie Breezes expresses the hope that the student body may enjoy their first yearbook. The first annuals devoted many pages to advertisements, literary works, and photographs of Bismarck. Since then our yearbooks have gradually departed from the pages spent on these subjects, until now they present a photographic record of our school life. Whatever the changes, the most important goal of any annual, picturing the spirit of school life, has been preserved. Our hope is that this spirit will be continued throughout the future years. Much of the success and progress of our school during the past twenty- five years is due to our school board and faculty administration. - The school board has one member, George Will, who has served for nearly twenty-five years, and the faculty boasts of one member, Mrs. Melvina Pollard, who was a member of the 1922-23 faculty, and has served continuously since that time. Both were reorganized after a lapse of many years, and the large student participation shows that they will again be very successful. The Dramatic Club, under the capable direction of Mr. Josal and Miss Thompson, has already produced several plays which have been well received. There was a remark- able turnout this year, forming a membership of over two hundred. At the head of the group is the policy committee, a group of nine elected from the members of the Dramatic Club. The Debate Team, under the direction of Mr. Josal, consists of eight members, four on the first team, and four alternates. These members were chosen by Mr. Josal after having made a trial five minute speech on their subject for the year- Should There Be Compulsory Arbitration of Industries Y In their first debate, with Grand Forks, our team showed their ability to give both the pro and con view. fm ' Playmakers' Production: Our Hearts Were Young and Gay Faculty Production: Arsenic and Old Lace Page Fifzu-seven Page Fifty-eight Journalism Production: You Can't Take It With You Dehte FRONT Row: Tolchinsky, Hauser.
