On the battle line are the tennis courts, the hockey field, and the swim- ming pool. Louise Allen, Captain of the Purple team, led her stalwarts in attacks against Gold archers and cavalry. Her followers never fal- tered as they struggled for final victory through team work and sportsmanship. olds Judy Howe, Gold Captain, directed her unified legions in maneuvers against the Purples, who re- taliated with swimmers and footmen. Her team might well make bold hearts quail, when it showed its spirit and athletic prowess, in the bat- tle for the Cup. While such critical remarks as sticks! and stop kicking my shins come from veteran play- ers, the novice learns how to play hockey. The varied rewards of having done so range from bashed-in shin bones to a posi- tion on one of the T-Day teams. askefgaff Basketball is exciting and ex- hilarating! This year there was the added attraction of a student- faculty game,-the students were trounced! There were also the two team games and the grill supper. fvozzeyiazz Annually, on Parents' Day, there is a volleyball game between mothers and daughters. Since everyone is embar- rassed, either because her daughter is winning or because her mother is in high-heels, the game is not very serious. But it is a lot of fun. wimmirzq Even if swimming does chill the mar- row of the bones, people always prac- tice for the Meet. Endless diving and lap-swimming keep the pool so wavy that it is hard for the casual wader to swim. ifzor Sporfs The field of minor sports has been enlarged with the arrival of deck-tennis, a sport new to many of us. This year brought Gold and Purple competition in these sports, team points plus medals were presented to the winning partici- pants. Soffbaff We have our own set of baseball stars who manage to give the diamond a thor- ough work-out every year. i ilzq A snappy drill team, iumping, and horsemanship classes were the enjoyable events at the Horseshow this year. The good riding showed the results of prac- tice, drilling, and all-day rides. emzis Tennis is a year-round sport which a good part of the student body plays. Our marvelous coach, Miss Tennant, keeps form and technique on a high level and is an inspiration to her enthusiastic pupils. reafive rf .-u,,a. i 4.57 Swmg -eww , I ., 2 -ww-. A-R.. 'l 1 V , fm W .
