When someone asks what a Student Senate is. the answer is usually an organization that has many meetings but does not really do much. This is a com- plete misconception. The Student Senate plans and coordinates all non- classroom activities. The Student Senate reorganized itself last year, but this year some of the committees had to operate differently. The men who meet with Bill Quinn and Pat Leary, president and vice-president respectively, are in charge of every student activity. They are aided by their moderator. Fr. Louis. The Student Senate started as an inactive group of people: it has progressed to an active status and hopes ot he an even more active hody in years to come. ,m.i..,., wk., W A ktk. V.. K ,. ..... .. . Students loin Together in Franciscan ovement Twenty-five years ago, the Third Order, which was the origi- nal name of the Franciscan Movement, was an organization of boys forbidden to go steady. This situation has changed greatly throughout the years. For two years now, the Franciscan Movement has consisted of Timon boys and Mercy girls. These people have joined this organization to express their Christianity in a Franciscan way. In order to fulfill this purpose perfectly, there is no specific membership dues or initiation. Anyone can attend the meetings but no one is ever forced to come. The Franciscan Movement has a long way to go before it can become a strong force in the school. It will be a difficult path but through the efforts of Ann Hogan, Mary Lou Wode, Don Yager, Mary Io Hannon, Linda Lonski, and Bob Skroma, who are the officers and representatives, the path will become easier. Fr. Michael Putich gives them the faculty advisement they need. These people and the other members are true Franciscans, because they always put their fellow man before themselves. x - U -:Se :ni
