Tigers Drive Their Wa To Title Timon has graduated some great athletes. This year a golf great has left Timon, leaving behind pleasant memories for Coach William Forsythe. Captain Don Doctor, medalist in the All-Catholic meet, has provided these remembrances. lay Rydel also clinched All-Catholic status witli a 78, just 5 strokes off Doctor's 73. These men were aided by strong shooting from Greg lus- zkiewicz, lim Porecca and lack Hoffstetter. The team fought its way to a 4-way tie in the Burke League and then won a playoff for first place. In that match they defeated Turner, O'Hara and St. Ioe's by a total of 11 strokes. Mr. Forsythe feels that the performance of Greg Iuszkiewicz indicates that Timon should be among the league leaders next year. . A W .. ...N .ia -.. .. :SM Xyki .. .... .K .... yi . A ..... as ss .. Defense Leads Tigers Through Tough Season Coming off of a 7-0-1 record of last season, the Timon Tigers took up where they left off. In the opening game, a stalwart defense and an offense powered by the run- ning of All-Catholic Larry Astyk, saved the way for a 24-0 romp. In the next game, the Bengals gave the Duffy Rapideers a tough battle: however the Tigers suc- cumbed '16-0. Victory 32 came as the Tigers romped in another big defensive game with an identical score as in their previous win. Traveling on down the campaign, the Tigers lost 4 straight including conquests by St. Ioes 16-6, Canisius 2-0, Fallon 14-0, and Ryan 22-8 before a season ending rip of Turner 54-'14, The defense again led the way in this conquest with 4 interceptions. one re- turned for a touchdown by Franz Bargman. No matter what the 3-5 won-lost record says statisti- cally, this team was a much better one. Placing 3 All- Catholics even though ending up in 7th place is quite an accomplishment. Aside from Astyk, Bill Travis was chosen as an AC-tackle and Mike Dzielski AC-guard. Astyk and Dzielski are juniors and show great promise for the future. Travis was a repeat selection from last year and is a senior. X . W ..... 3,..g.'.. ....., ,mg X.X........ MX.. L. XX X L XX X X f if . T L E X. X. X X -XXX.. ' X fi- 5 x . k ty SW ' if K ' A X. X .
