'New Life' Flows Into Science Dept. New courses, new objectives and new teachers have been injected into the 1970-71 Science Depart- ment program. This year a course in Earth Science is being offered to freshmen science majors. This course is being taught by Fr. Patrick McCavin in order to teach basic fundamentals which students do not ordinarily re- ceive in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. In addition to this new course. two highly trained specialists have been hired to teach within the Science Depart- ment. Coming from Burgard Vocational. Mr. Alex O'Toole has taken over the heavy load of teaching in the Biological Science course. Mr. Theodore Bliz- niak has returned to Timon after a short stint with Allied Chemical to teach Regents Chemistry. Religion eets Da Of Choice lnstituting a new pass-fail marking system, the Religion department has tried to help the student become aware of himself, his neighbor, his values and his God. With this new system has come an emphasis on in- formal discussion groups. Some significant changes in the department are the offering of optional Masses for the student body and student involvement in the planning of the Liturgy. Through these changes the department hopes to bring meaningful and rele- vant classes to students. The Religion Department is new, evolving and under-staffed.
