English Dept. Builds Language Skills English must be the most abused subject that ever EXISTED. Everytime a student goes home and says got instead of have or have threw instead of have thrown he gets the prying question, Who is your English teacher? Nevertheless the English Department forges on to instill basic skills in language usage - both written and oral. In addition, the department's teachers try to cultivate an appreciation of literature and to develop a critical insight as a preparation for college. The department also employs supplementary methods of teaching such as filmstrips, records and transparencies. The department has hired two teach- ers who are adept at using these methods. Mr. Iohn Saviola is teaching English I and II and Mr. Paul Mar- tello teaches English I. Opposte Page Above, Fr. Paul attempts to convince his students that English IVisn't all that bad.
