DUFFY 6-TIMON 0 The meeting of the Timon and DulTy gridders proved to be mostly a defensive battle for both teams. Although the Southsiders gave the fans an excellent exhibition of football, the boys from Duffy in the end emerged vic- torious over the Tigers. This was the third setback in a row for Timon's eleven. Duffy scored when their quarterback, Joe Ryan, com- pleted a pass to John Jaconelli on the ten and he ran the remaining distance for the lone and winning TD of the day. Although Timon penetrated deeply into the Duffy zone, they failed to hit pay dirt for the third straight game. The game was a hard fought one but DufTy's vic- tory proved that they received the opportunity and took .l? advantage of it. The sight of Johnny Mann clearing Dougherty's end became a familiar sight just as he is shown here picking up big yardage. ..!- ,na ' ,V -.IAS - 49-s-5-':'a4b.'ff ,5,ig, ' Jlkvff' -.M lui 'Mo .A 5'-PK:-.N ' I-as . -Ni... On a very windy fall afternoon Timon smothered the new entry into the league, Cardinal Dougherty, by a score of 34-O to break their winless streak. Early in the game with the help of the hard running of Jack Horner and Lenny Kalinowski Timon worked the ball down to the opposition's 16-yard line. From there Kalinowski lugged the ball for a touchdown and the first score of the game and of the season. The extra point was made and Timon led 7-0. From this point on Timon's offense shifted into high gear but the defensive team too was practically impreg- nable to any oilensive maneuvers the young Dougherty team tried. The fine passing of Joe Kerber accounted for another score in the second quarter. Starting the second half with a 13 point bulge the Tigers turned loose their runners Jim Bieger, John Man and Dale DelBello for 21 more points. The hurt of the first three games was lessened in the general atmosphere of victory.

TIMON I3-BAKER VICTORY 0 The Tigers posted their fourth consecutive victory by downing their rivals from Lackawanna I3-0. The game, played at Lackawanna Stadium, was slowed considerably by the worst playing conditions encountered all year long. It was a cold rainy night, with the field being a sea of mud. The Green and Gold drove 54 yards the first time they got the ball. The drive featured by the hard running of Murray Regan was completed when he ripped off tackle for 6 yards and the TD. The fired-up Braves from Baker held the Tigers until the 4th quarter when they started another drive. Featured by the expert ball handling of Sophomore quarterback, Jim Stanley, the drive was con- cluded when Murray Regan bolted into the end zone for his second score of the day and his seventh in his last three games. The bright spot of the day was Jim Stanley, who showed promise of good things to come in the future. MANLY LOSERS! l l l l l .4 A I Dick Zasada and .lack Slack open lhe gales but a Baker defender has managed to get in the back door. AQUINAS I9-TIMON 7 Timon journeyed to Aquinas of Rochester for their last game in an attempt to win their fifth victory in a row and avenge a 34-6 loss suffered last year at the hands of the Little Irish . By using sweeping end runs and short tiat passes the Little Irish took a I9-O lead before the Tigers were able to hit paydirt on a Keber to Stallone pass which covered 63 yards. The Tigers had the opportunities but were hindered by fumbles and penalties. The whole starting unit of the Tigers was to be com- mended for their line play. The Tigers. once again showed. as they had all year. that they would not quit. The loss evened the Tigers' season record at 4 wins and 4 losses. Although the season could not be called tre- mendous it could be called a success because of their fine comeback. Congratulations are also in line for head coach. Gene O'Connor. line coach. Jim Gibbons and the rest of the coaching stafi for a job well done.
