Under the able guidance of Fr. Patrick McGavin, the Science Club provides an outlet for anyone interested in augmenting his knowledge of science. Here the future physicists and chemists perform experiments and solve problems ofthe many phenomina in nature. Since we live in a high scientific age with the various fields developing at great rates, these experiments have given us self con- fidence and knowledge about many points in science. The membership of the club was below par this year, but even with the limited numbers the club was as active as in past years. The highlight of the year was the public scientific displays of the Buffalo high schools in which Timon entered several displays. The History and Civics Club had another substantial increase in membership this year, illustrating that it is one of the finest and most successful clubs in the school. Working on the principle of learning through experience, the club features discussions on all phases of History and Civics. The founders of this nation realized that a democ- racy rests on a program of citizenship education for the masses. This principle is the primary aim of the club. This year the Club was under the direction of their moder- ator, Fr. Louis. President Tom Burke and Vice President Jerry Hauser led the way in most of the clubs activities. The aim ofthe Scholarship Club is a unique one but at the same time a very important one. lt is the only club in the school that has as its purpose a purely scholastic reason for existence, since it is aimed primarily at prepar- ing the student to compete in competitive scholarship tests. This year the Club, under the direction of our Principal Fr. Timothy and assisted by Fr. Joel, began to prepare the seniors in their Junior year. The extra time and hard work that the members put into this club paid ofT for them and for the school as six seniors won full time Regent Scholarships and four others have part time ones. Six other scholarships have been awarded to our seniors for their showing in various competitive exams. .li Scholarship club snapped in pensive mood during New York Starr' Rl'gl'l11.Y Scholarship test.
