,na Self-Perfection-this is the chief aim of every Third Order Tertiary. Each is as a professed member bound in conscience to lixe according to the Holy Rule as dic- tated by our holy founder St. Francis. The members recite a daily oflice and are constantly garbed in a religious habit which reminds them of their true purpose. Charity in every day life ranks high among the virtues sought after by the members because it is the all-embracing virtue that guarantees heaven, Even though the Third Order is several centuries old, it did not appear in Buffalo until 1949. Father John Vogel, O.F.M. immediately made it popular by appealing to the non-married and teenage Catholics. Through the years. the Third Order has helped to strengthen the faith of its members and to prepare them for a future in a materialistic world, by giving them a strong foundation for their future lives. This year's Third Order under the guidance of Frs. Norbert. Louis and Roderic was one of the most outstanding in Timon's history. The membership far surpassed that of previous years. A weekly mass and rosary were inaugurated to afford the members with more opportunities to live up to their calling. F1 Louis Ars! The Student Senate is the connecting link between the students and faculty. Each Senate Representative is elected early in the school year by his classmates. Upon accepting the office, he agrees to take all of their problems and requests to the person who can best fulfill their needs. In this manner, such a governing body not only serves as a practical and efficient force, but it gives its members invaluable experi- ence in leadership. Since the Student Senate of Timon was founded, its power and prestige has grown proportionately to the many and varied responsibilities it has assumed. These include the Student Court, which maintains the rules of discipline in the classrooms, and the Student Senate Spirit Directing Association, which tirelessly leads Timon- ites in cheering Green and Gold teams on to victory. ln addition to leading the student body, the Senate helped make each Classes' social activities memorable occasions. The Senior Ring Dance, the Senior Prom, the Junior Prom, and the Inaugural Ball were great successes. All things considered, the l959-60 school year was one of the most prosperous and eventful ever seen at Timon and at the head of every activity was the Student Senate.
