GOLF THE 1959 TIMON GOLF TEAM-F. Kull, J. Pfister, J. Purcell, Fr. Cordian, Moderatorg M. Snajczuk, P. Purcell and D. Lally. The Bishop Timon linksmen of 1958 took the Bishop Burke league title with a undefeated record of won 6, lost 0. The last match of the season paired up the three previously undefeated teamsg Timon, St. ,loe's and Canisius. Timon winning this match and thus wrapping up the title, was led by captain ,Ioe Purcell,s 3 over par 75. Also Timon won the Sc-hoolboy Invitation at Dans- ville for the fourth year. ,Ioe Purcell again led the linksmen with a X 2 over par 72, followed closely by Bob Pfister's and Mike Snajczuk's 1 76'-. h Pfk' ' 'i h 8 , l ' I s .lo n ister came in wit a 7 to comp ete the record breaking Timmfs wp three Joe Purcell, John Pfister Score of 302- and Mike Snajczuk display trophies acquired during the season. The gun has just sounded and they are of in the dash at St. ,Ioe's. The Timon Outdoor Track Team ended a successful year finish- ing a respectable second in the All-Catholic Meet. This traditional meet, which is held every year at the University of Buffalo, saw Timon edged out by only a few points at the hands of Canisius. Canisius was Timon's stumbling block as they were the only team to best the Timon Harriers during the League Meets. But 1958 was a year of records for the Harriers. Three league records were accredited to the Cindermen. In the All-Catholic Meet Tom Ryan set a new record for the mile run, and equally impressive was Bruce Shaver's new broad-jump record in the same meet. During the regular season a new high jump record was set by ,lim Cainey. Three new records and a second place in the All- Catholic Meet is something to be proud of. Fran Wrenn flies high and handsome trying to get that extra inch. illoflerator Fr. Paschal and Coach, Jerry ,Ianan talk things over with the two co-captains, Tom W'right and illike Russert.
