Building men strong as followers of Christ, through prayer, penance and good example is the wholesome Objective of the Third Order of St. Francis. Significant of these objectives tl1e members wear a modification of the habit of the First Order consisting of a cord and scapular, symbolic of penance and purity. The members strive to follow the example of St. Francis, the perfect imitator of Christ. by the practice and development of virtues which will effect their eternal salvation. This year Frs. Norbert Wallace, tJ.F.NI., and Cronan Maxwell, U.F.M. have presided as moderators, and have successfully brought about the profession and re- ception ceremonies of many new Cord Bearers and Tertiaries. Credit should be given to the student body in general who by their enthusiasm for cultivating their spiritual lives has increased this year's membership to a record high. It is hoped that in the future the Third Order will continue to thrive within the school. 4 l S TUV by gllembers of Timon's 1959 version of the Ljrper House of the Student Senate are: A. Ottaviani, R. Zasada, D. Santi, J. DePaula, R. Leary, and R. illiller. In 1949 the High School Administrators granted to the Student Body of Bishop Timon High the privilege of self-government and the right to elect its own officers in a democratic manner. The first governing body was elected in the same year and was named the Student Council of Bishop Timon High School. The executive, legislative, and judicial powers of the Student Senate rest in the Upper House. Under the guidance of their Mode- rator, Fr. Robert Gabel, 0.F.M., and their President, .Ioseph De- Paula, the Senate fosters harmonious relations between the Faculty and the Student Association, and co-ordinates the academic, reli- gious, athletic, and social activities of Bishop Timon High School. The Student Senate plays an integral part in every facet of High School activity and constantly endeavors to mold a Christian gentleman and a true Timon man. In addition to governing the Student Body of the school, the Senate also sponsors many other activities during the academic year. It conducts the Freshman Invitation, Student Court, Pep Rallies, Seasonal Dances, and many other activities beneficial to the Student Body.
