Building men strong as followers of Christ, through prayer, penance and good example is the wholesome Objective of the Third Order of St. Francis. Significant of these objectives tl1e members wear a modification of the habit of the First Order consisting of a cord and scapular, symbolic of penance and purity. The members strive to follow the example of St. Francis, the perfect imitator of Christ. by the practice and development of virtues which will effect their eternal salvation. This year Frs. Norbert Wallace, tJ.F.NI., and Cronan Maxwell, U.F.M. have presided as moderators, and have successfully brought about the profession and re- ception ceremonies of many new Cord Bearers and Tertiaries. Credit should be given to the student body in general who by their enthusiasm for cultivating their spiritual lives has increased this year's membership to a record high. It is hoped that in the future the Third Order will continue to thrive within the school.
