Paul Alico smashes one back during practice at Cazenouia Park. TENNIS A new sport was added to Timon's ever- growing athletic program last year. The Timon Tennis Team made its initial appearance, and although the overall team record was not high, it set a foundation upon which future teams can be built. Individuals played an important part in this eventful season. Two victories were posted over Notre Dame, while defeats were suffered at the hands of Canisius, Fallon, St. Joe's and Duffy. As a result, the team fin- ished the season with a 2-1 record. In the opening fight Timon survived a shaky first inning and then buried Fallon under a 16-3 deluge. The second win of the campaign re- sulted from an avengeful spirit among the Timon players who wished to overcome the only team which defeated them the previous year . . . St. Francis. The win came by an 8-4 rhargin. Canisius was responsible for the only reverse, a score of 4-0, behind the four hit pitching of Paul Andrewski. E' Ci ,X ' - - 2 'Q7 EHEW Timon's Crew proved its superiority this past year not only to our local rivals but to the entire country by rowing their way to the four-oared championship in the American Schoolboy Regatta at Washington, D. C. Timon oarsmen battled a strong head wind and choppy waters on the Potomac River yet crossed the finish line two lengths in the lead in the time of 6:02. 'Timon's American Schoolboy Champions entered the Canadian Schoolboy Regatta at Port Dalhousie. The Tirnon Timon Crea' Coach Tab-v Brett receives a trophy at Sports Nightfor his outstanding Contribution to our athletic program.
