6 s B SEBALL The Baseball Tigers posted a won-6 lost-4 record in last year's competition. The Bengals started the season on the right foot by nosing out St. J0e's 2-0 on the wings of Jim S0rrentin0's two hit performance. For the second contest of the season the Timon squad traveled to Delaware Park where they absorbed an 8-7 reverse at the hands of Canisius High. The Crusaders took quick advantage of five walks handed out by the Timon pitching staff and added a pair of base hits to push four runs across in the fifth inning. On their next outing the South-siders posted their second shutout of the year by dropping Ryan 3-0. Again Sorrentino controlled things from the mound. VARSITY BASEBALL TEAM: CKneeling from leftj K. GOLF TEAM-f Mike Snajczuk, Joe Purcell, Moderator Fr. Victorian, Dick Cuddihy, Bob Pfister, Ed Pfister. Dick Cuddihy displays his championship form for the Talisman cameraman. GULF Last Spring the Timon linksters, moderated by Father Victorian, Hnished the season with a won 2 lost 1 record. The team posted victories over St. Joes by the score of 10 to 2, and Duffy 12 to O. However, Canisius proved just a little too much as they dropped the decision by the score of 65 to 5Vz. During the course of the season the team was entered in the schoolboy tournament held at Dansville, N. Y. and they brought more honors to Timon by winning it handily. The club record was made three and one as the Tigers downed Fallon, 6-1. Soon afterwards the Green and Gold ran their record to six wins against three setbacks. The team then prepared for the crucial game against St. Joe's. The squads fought nip and tuck for ten innings before the Saints took the upper hand in the 11th inning. A single and a triple, back to back scored the run which pushed Timon out of first place. Jack O'Connor is nailed at the plate in a battle at Cazenouia Park.
