Paul Hulme The Tiger Cagers made a brilliant second round comeback as they racked up a 10-2 season mark only to be topped in the Playoff finals by St. Francis of Athol Springs. Both squads entered the classic contest sporting 13 game winning skeins. The outcome, 67-52, marked the third consecu- tive year in which Timon has reached the finals, only to be defeated. At the conclusion of a greatly successful season Timon blasted Mindzenty 63-40, in the opening round. Brian Guest surprised the Monarchs with a production of 28 points. The Tigers coasted to the victory after building a 28-12 halftime margin. Shortly thereafter the South-Siders met St. Joels, whom they had split a pair of contests with dur- ing the season. Frank Cipriani goes high off the floor for a jump shot in an exciting fight against Aquinas. Timon avenged an earlier reverse by dumping the Rochester squad 70-49. battle while Dick Dunbar and George Gegen- furtner piled up twelve apiece against the Roch- ester School. The big win of the season came in the St. Joe game. Timonls 65-60 win on the Saints floor pre- sented a fitting climax to a long drive for first place. Other teams which fell victim to the Tigers were Ryan, Baker-Victory, Fallon and St. Mary's For the Deaf. These teams all contributed two games in the Tiger win column. Bill Mc- Donald led the league's scorers while he and team mate Frank Cipriani were named to All- Catholic squad. McDonald received coach Mel Palano's Most Improved Playern award while Dan Neeson was named as the Most Valuable Player.
