GE M George Michael Cohan was the great towering giant of . . . . . the American musical theater and GEORGE M! is his story. It was a colorful, exciting, and fast mov- ing musical. The action starts on July 4, 1878, when George, the Yankee Doodle Kid, was born and covers sixty years of his life. Determined to make Broadway with the Five Cohans, George had trouble at first, then scored with Little Johnny Jones with its noted song Give My Regards to Broad- way. More fabulous songs followed that made Cohan a legend. Then George's beloved Broadway changed. But George proved he still had what it took to win the audiences over. X X 73
