During a trust walk, Janice Heinssen puts her confidence in Mary Cannon. K-wee. New Sophomores supplement religion class discussions with collages. --x To modernize the religion pro- gram, the department focuses on an increasing social awareness among the students. To accomplish this aim, classes participated in a drive to col- lect Clark gum wrappers for UNICEF as well as clothing for Appalachia. Also initiated into the program were small group retreats outside the atmosphere of school. Group guidance is provided on the Freshman, Sophomore and Junior levels with individual interviews for Seniors. The program implements standardized testing and group dis- cussions of pertinent problems. Leaving the guidance office, Cathy Leon thanks Mrs. Bulger for her advice. Talented guitarists accompanying singing at First Friday Mass.

Junior Helen Carberry tackles complicated quadratic functions. Supplementing the traditional mathe- matics courses this year, the Mathematics Department offered a course in Matrix AIgebra.'TackIing the problems of elemen- tary functions and matrices, eleven Sen- iors pursue the intricacies of higher math- ematics. The Science Department employs the well-equipped facilities of Reilly's laborato- ries to illustrate scientific principles and theories.
