Retreats have always been a big part of O,Dowd. They involve reflection, meditation, games, individual or group activities, and discussions about God, family, friends, relationships, and pressures. And to relax, the students and faculty facilitators play capture the flag and swim if the weather permits. There are retreats for every grade level. The Freshmen and Sophomore retreats are held at the near by Holy Redeemer Center and are a full day long. Both Junior and Senior retreats are overnighters at a retreat house in Los Gatos. All of the retreats are emotional, yet fun. Above right: Seniors at the first Senior Retreat gather to take a group picture on the last day. See how well they've bonded! Retreat Right: Duck!! Below: Uh, oh! What were my lines? School masses provide students with a much-needed break from school-life. At O'DoWd, there is a mass for practically every occasion--Back to School, Thanksgiving, All Saints Day, and many other religious holidays. The Campus Ministry Team, led by Mr. Judd, entertained the student body with a variety of meaningful masses. This year, a relatively new group, Christian Peer Ministry, also helped to prepare masses. Even though they usually had the option of going to a study hall, many students chose to come to the numerous optional masses. Students come to masses for prayer and reflection and of course they also enjoy watching funny C.M.T. skits and listening to the school chorus and its piano, violin, or guitar accompaniment.
