night at the Hayward Cinema, and, of course, the Senior Ball and Grad Night. We have now completed this four-year high school circuit, and made some friend- ships that hopefully will last a lifetime. lt has been a time of learning, both inside and out of the Classroom. We're ready to take on the challenges of the future, and deserve all the respect we earn. Senior Division 5

O PLETI G Ahhh ............ to be a senior! We waited three long years for the prestige, the power, and the right to finally eat lunch on the quads. We were even successful in negoti- ating the privilege of wearing shorts on Fridays. It feels good to be at the top! Some people say that the hardest year at O'Dowd is being a junior, but this year's seniors found out that wasn't true. Not only did we hold down a schedule filled with difficult classes Cmany students chose several A.P. level coursesb, but we also had to fill out numerous college applications, write essays, work part-time, and visit campuses to determine where we'd like to be in the fall of '94. The college search pro- HE CIRCUIT cess was extremely exhausting. Add to that the early wake-up on Saturday mornings to take the S.A.T. and you have many tired seniors. The class of '94 was also very in- volved in 0'Dowd athletics as vital mem- bers of championship teams, and, most found time to participate in several of the campus club activities. Senior year, however, wasn't completely filled with stressful, busy days and nights of only homework. We did enjoy many fun times, such as the Day with the A's base- ball games, the Senior Mass and Breakfast that brought families together, overnight retreats in Los Gatos, winning Spirit Week with our class acts and circus theme, movie 4 Senior Division

A friend told me about summer school at UCSD. We went together, spending 5-weeks taking a class in marine biology. I stayed in the dorms at Muir College and ate meals in the campus cafeteria. I hope to go to college there, and it was a terrific opportunity to get a close-up look at college life It was the best summer I've ever had! 3 M X i 'H if 6 Senior Summer i 5 5 E Q 5 CAN YOU FIND DANIEL STEPHENS IN THIS GROUP? He's seated in the upper left corner, pictured with the 30 participants in the Telluride Assoc. Summer Program held at Cornell Univ. in upstate New York from Iune 26 - August 8. I attended the seminar entitled Politics of Culture which involved being with a diverse group of high school-age students from across the country. It was an exercise in cooperative, intellectual community living. I found it to be very stressful at times, however it made me a more in-depth thinker, writer, and speaker. The program has pointed me in the direction of a field in which I plan to use my abilities in debate and public speaking. Cornell is a beautiful campus, and the whole program was profoundly educational. HELPING OTHERS IS VERY REWARDING. Deborah Zierten spends some time every summer on a Mission Trip with her church youth group. Last summer I went to Denver for two weeks. I worked at a church and at the community center's camp for children. We did a variety of jobs. At the church, we weeded the yard, painted a bathroom, and refinished banisters. At the community center, we built a bridge, put gravel in the playground, and took the kids on day trips to the park. It's really fun to be with my friends and help others at the same time.
