Mr. Edward Miller, Mrs. Kathryn Berkowicz, and Sister Naza¬ reth Druminey, C.S.C. assist students with research projects and with the choice of reading materials for personal enrichment and enjoyment. Student library aides, under the direction of Mr. Miller, re¬ ceive a valuable background in library science. The students per¬ form an important service to the faculty by delivering and servic¬ ing materials and equipment from the library Audio-visual center. The aides also deliver materials from the English depart¬ ment’s paperback library which is stored in the library. All of these services in addition to its use as a study center for students and teachers make the library the busiest place in the school. ENGLISH English is the largest department at Bishop Noll. Under the direction of Mrs. Carolann Biel, a staff of dedicated teachers guides students through courses in basic English and Speech, ad¬ vanced studies, and enrichment programs in writing and literature. In addition to the use of general textbooks, an extensive pa¬ perback library, and a wealth of audio-visual equipment, the de¬ partment also uses excellent movies to complement an exciting program. A progressive attitude in the department is demonstrated by the addition of classes in Modern Drama and Playwriting and Publications and Photography. MUSIC AND RHYTHM FIND THEIR WAY ... -PLATO ... INTO THE SECRET PLACES OF THE SOUL.” GIRLS IN SPORTS When it comes to spirit and enthusiasm in sports, the girls of Noll are on a par with the boys. These girls have a love for sports and in their own way wish to play the game”. The Majorettes are at the front of parades and lead half-time activities. Swim Guards, Trackettes, Mat Maids and Bat Girls as¬ sist the coaches by timing, measuring, and keeping statistics. They also write lineups and scoreboards. More important, the girls in sports add fire and excitement, and team spirit. The GAA—Girls Athletic Association—affords the girls of Noll the opportunity to actively participate in a wide variety of sports. Coach Jim Anderson fielded a great group of hustling guys that made the diamond sparkle brightly with another happy sea¬ son of good solid baseball. The Warriors finished the ’75 season with an overall record of 21 wins with only four losses. In the Lake Shore Conference competition, the Mighty Warriors won 13 and lost 3. This was good enough to make the Warriors Co-Champs with Hammond High. Confidence was the key word as the Varsity team went into sectional play. Noll also has a Junior Varsity team of which we are justly proud. The Junior Varsity team is led by Coach Jack Gabor. ' DMfli . .-isv..;. The program was proposed by the students and supported by both administration and faculty, to provide more students with an opportunity to participate in athletic competition. The program consisted of 16 teams organized into two leagues with 8 teams per league. Each team had the opportunity to com¬ pete in 7 regular season games, and in 4-round elimination tour¬ naments. There were a total of 70 games played. Much of the program’s success can be attributed to the hard work of Mr. Pat Kalich and to the many faculty members who served as supervisors, referees, and timers. Mr. Bobalik, Mr. Fur- ticella, Mr.Gabor, Mr. Huegli, Mr. Knesek, Mr. Mehok, Mr. Miller, Mr. Pressner, Mr. Sebestyen, and Mr. Ylasic all joined with Mr. Kalich and 16 great teams to make it a great season of Intramural play. MGSSMERT’s captured the first crown by defeating the GREAT WHITE HOPE, 48-36, in the championship game. We all look forward to another great season in ’76. : i SPORTS 117 PEP RALLIES What’s the biggest organization at B.N.I.? The entire student body, of course. There are tuitions to pay, schedules to pick up, books to buy, and uniforms to claim. During Spirit Week, students wore class colors and dressed for nostalgia days. Festivities began on October 10 with a pep rally and parade through the main streets of East Chicago. The mighty Warrior team scored a smashing victory over the Washington Senators, and happiness was the mood at the Home¬ coming Dance. Memories and activities were captured on these pages because of the hard working team of Mr. Joseph Malczak and the Yearbook Gang. The Marquette owes many thanks to Mr. George Kingsley, our Paragon Press representative, who has devoted his time in aiding a once totally inexperienced staff. Also, I would like to express my thanks to Root Photographers for coming to our rescue when we needed help in meeting deadlines. I would like to thank a cooperative administration and faculty for their help with student records and assistance when we needed it the most. There was a combined effort of students on all class levels which made this truly memorable book representative of the entire Noll community. Editor-iri-Chief GOLD PATRONS Mr. Mrs. Joseph J.
