1972 BASEBALL Playing perhaps the most demanding schedule in the re¬ gion, the 1972 Baseball team wound up its season with a record of 27-10-1. Included in the victory column were wins over Hammond Morton, Merrillville, and Illinois power Lane Tech. Leading the team in hitting were juniors Gerry Kray (.343), Bob Madryk (.310), and senior Eric Wilk (.327). Others displaying productive seasons at the plate were seniors John Matusik (.293), Ed Rysiewicz (.286), Frank Podkul (.295), and junior John Mojzik (.316). Gerry Kray led the team with 32 runs batted in, and Eric Wilk stole 24 bases in as many tries. Top hurlers for Noll this year were Jeff Moldrawski (9-0), Bob Ispas (6-3), and Frank Moricz (4-1). The finale of the season came as the team won the Hammond Sectional title, but fin¬ ished second in Regionals after a close loss to Hammond Morton. Randy Ferko awaits a throw from home.
