28 SUMMER THEATRE In the second season of Noll's Summer Theatre, the drama department successfully executed two arena-set productions. Jim Marshall. Lee Purcell, Michele DuBose, and Cindy Golan starred in a sterling performance of the mild satire on the roaring 20's, Boy Friend. Through unselfish devotion of time and effort timid and awkward students were transformed into outspoken. Riviera-stepping people of the past. In a representation of the avant-garde drama. The Roar of the Greasepaint—the Smell of the Crowd, Terry Sherman and Phil Ponce recreated the constant struggle in life between the ‘‘haves” and the have-nots.” These summer stock musicals, staged under the direction of Mr. Breckle and Brother John Walsh, proved but a small milestone in the path to the summit of modern theatre. |im Marshall and Michele DuBose enact one of the more touching scenes from the summer production. WINTER FORMAL This year’s winter formal, entitled The Christmas Inn, was an enchanting highlight of the Christmas vacation. The programs, organized by general chairman Steve Gigac, and the decorations, engineered by Michele DuBose, were hailed as the best in recent years. The scene was one of a little village in the wilderness. Frosted windows, a warm Fireplace. and pine trees provided a captivating experience for all who came. Tables arranged in the fashion of a cozy living room and a pathway through snow-sprayed scotch pines gave the atmosphere a touch of the magic fascination of Christmas. While refreshments were served by students attired in the garb of eighteenth century pilgrims, couples danced to the music of the Rhythm-Aires. Refreshments, served in traditional dress, added a novel touch to the memorable evening.
