SENIOR PLAY □ Bishop Noll’s Theater replaced Broadway and the celebrated comedy, You Can’t Take It With You, became the Senior Play. Chosen because of it’s recently successful revival in New York, the play uncovered unsuspected Senior talent. Outstanding per¬ formances by the cast were due to the efforts of Charles Breckle, director, Brother John, producer, and the Seniors themselves. Alice Sycamore (Linda Esparsa) finds her unordinary cornflakes- in-the-icebox family an obstacle to marriage with Tony Kirby (Larry Cummings), the boss’s son. Some of the strange interests occupying members of the Sycamore household include the manu¬ facture of fireworks, income tax evasion, and a snake collection. Other members of the cast were Paulette Dybel as Penelope Syca¬ more, Tom Egan as Boris Kolenkov and Dan McCann as Martin Vanderhof. The single set provided a challenge to Noll’s stage crew and Seniors who faced the task of duplicating the decor of the 1930’s in creating the Sycamore’s living room. Jim Holicky was responsible for the stage lighting and the construction of the set. ■ Eccentricities become hobbies and whims become goals in the Sycamore family. EVENTS 23

WINTER DANCE □ Step into the land of snowflakes and mistletoe. Noll couples entered the little known kingdom “Under the Christmas Tree” at the Winter Dance. Bryan Nelson and the Rhythm-Aires provided music for dancing beneath an evergreen ceiling. Amidst the varied decorations, the focal point was a huge tree trunk surrounded by an assortment of toys, gaily wrapped presents, stuffed animals, and miniature trains. Adding to the atmosphere of the Christmas season were fir trees, colored glass, snowflakes, candles, and snow piled against a window pane. Everyone was carefree with the spirit of Christmas vacation. The Seniors heading the decorations committee, Donna Tomko and Mary Golonka, spent a great deal of their vacation on the preparations. At this year’s dance, girls were given the choice of dressing in formals or semi-formals, which added variety. ■ EVENTS 25
