Go-MM nc wi rvt £r4ce ioiA l On June 3, 1956, the Senior crew members of the U. S. S. Noll marched slowly into the Hammond Civic Center where their parents, relatives, and friends had gathered. The strains of “Pomp and Circumstance” faded into the distance and Commencement Exer¬ cises began with the addresses of the class Valedictorian, Saluta- torian, and guest speaker. As proud parents watched. Rev. A. J. Junk, Principal, conferred the awards and scholarships to the high ranking Seniors and then officially granted each of the graduates his diploma, the culmina¬ tion of his four year cruise and the passport to a life time of enter- prise.

laxxAxJxiJHA ate Mate, A Solemn High Mass was celebrated at St. Joseph ' s Church, Hammond, on May 31, 1956. This Baccalaureate Mass marked the real beginning of the formal Graduation Exercises of the Class of 1956. The Mass was offered by Father Junk, Principal, assisted by the priests of the faculty, for the intentions of the Seniors and their parents. The choir was under the direction of Father Melevage. The graduates were reminded in the sermon of their duty to plot their life ' s course for the greater glory of God and their salvation of their souls. The Seniors also received Holy Communion at the Mass. Breakfast was then served for the Seniors and their parents by the parents of the Junior class at Memorial Hall in East Chicago. 26

B elL GUoAesi • Id SeAuoA Pnejuj, James Bell, Senior Class President The selection of senior class officers differs slightly from that of the underclassmen at Noll High. While all other classes have a complete set of officers for each home room, the seniors elect a president of their class at large. Each senior home room submits a presidential candidate and the entire senior class members choose the one who will officially represent them. Each individual home room has a vice-president, secretary, and treasurer. James Bell was selected by the seniors as their class president. He is a member of St. Monica ' s Parish, Gary. Choice of him as senior class president is evidence of his pleasing and popular personality. While at Noll, Jim was active in athletics, especially varsity football and basketball, and was a member of the Monogram Club. SENIOR HOMEROOM VICE-PRESIDENTS Seated: Douglas Keilman, Sr. 1; James Mason, Sr. 2; John Chute, Sr. 3; Ira Judge, Sr. 4; standing: Robert Rudzinski, Sr. 5; Arlene Sakiaczynski, Sr. 6; and Andrew Fabian, Sr. 7. 28
