laxxAxJxiJHA ate Mate, A Solemn High Mass was celebrated at St. Joseph ' s Church, Hammond, on May 31, 1956. This Baccalaureate Mass marked the real beginning of the formal Graduation Exercises of the Class of 1956. The Mass was offered by Father Junk, Principal, assisted by the priests of the faculty, for the intentions of the Seniors and their parents. The choir was under the direction of Father Melevage. The graduates were reminded in the sermon of their duty to plot their life ' s course for the greater glory of God and their salvation of their souls. The Seniors also received Holy Communion at the Mass. Breakfast was then served for the Seniors and their parents by the parents of the Junior class at Memorial Hall in East Chicago. 26

The strains of “Pomp and Circumstance” faded into the distance and Commencement Exer¬ cises began with the addresses of the class Valedictorian, Saluta- torian, and guest speaker. As proud parents watched. Rev. A. J. Junk, Principal, conferred the awards and scholarships to the high ranking Seniors and then officially granted each of the graduates his diploma, the culmina¬ tion of his four year cruise and the passport to a life time of enter- prise.
