The rectory is the pivot point of the parish. There the priest meets with his parishioners, getting to know them better, rejoicing with them at good fortune, sympatllilillg with them in moments of trial and tribulation. To a Catholic the sign outside the parish house, Cath- olic Rectory, spells sacrifice and security. We are fa- miliar with the fatherly solicitude and self-sacrifice of our priests. When one of us has worries or wants he hurries to the rectory, knowing that if anything can be done Father will helpf, The pastor is at the service of his little flock day and night. The light in the rectory burns late. There are always the sudden sick calls, the late instruction classes for those who cannot come at any other timef' the often Hdrawn-out meeting of the ladies, organization or of the Holy Name Society, the marital instructions for those who work latef' etc., etc. And, of course, there are the early Masses! All of these things, and a million others that a priest encounters in his day, will be taken care of, we know. The priest will have time for our troubles, too. The sign Catholic Rectory reassures us! As the rectory marks the heart of the parish, so the underclassmen seem to symbolize. to the graduate, the core of the school. It is the underclassmen who will carry on the particular spirit or personality of the school. They are intensely interested in all that pertains to the school-the curriculum, the organizations, and the activities that make up the school program. Underclassmen give us a sense of security because of their spirit of sacrifice in school matters. They are so generous with their time and talents. The future of the school looks reassuring when' we look at our underclassmen! R 1 W .L -I -,, ...Q - . Q mx 52
