VARSITY SOCCER Bonn Varsity Soccer moved its wa into iho C.I.F. playoffs for ihc sixth consecutive season since BMHS soccer began. The Knights went 8-0 and be- came the Angelus league champions, this being the first year of Angelus league competition for BMHS soccer The team was coached vers well b Head Coach Bill Staengel and Assis- tant Coach Marine C ' ano. The team placed fourth in the South High tourna- ment, which is the most prestiegious soccer tournament in Southern Califor- nia. As a result. man members of the team have received offers from major colleges. The team was led b co-cap- tains Roland Schmid and Tim Moore. Roland Schmid, al all-CIl candidate, was the league leading scorer. Half- back, and also all-CIF candidate, Care Martz led the team in assists and played remarkable during the entire season. 90 N ' arsity Soccer

Freshmen Basketball This year ' s Freshman team turned out a good season with a 16-8 record under coach, Kurt Ker- sten. The Freshman had a seven game winning streatc during pre-season, excepting a one point loss to Morningside. Jim Pelton was named All-Tour- ney team for the Bishop Montgomery tournament, and injured his back before the first league game. Injuries and illnesses plagued the team throughout the season, but they were able to stay in contention for the league title.
