The Boys Sophomore Basketball team this year flnished the season with a 18-6 record. Under the guidance of their coach. Bob Walker, the smallest sophomore Angeles League team finished in sec- ond place. The Knights entered two tournaments and in the Hawthorne Tournament they captured second place. In the Sunny Hills Tournament, they captured third place. During the league, the Knights first big challenge was against Servite, where the Knights pulled out a 46-42 victory over the Friars. Mike Gonzales, the leading scorer, averaged in the double figures along with Chris Cordero, Shane Higa, and John Breeden. Freshmen Basketball This year ' s Freshman team turned out a good season with a 16-8 record under coach, Kurt Ker- sten. The Freshman had a seven game winning streatc during pre-season, excepting a one point loss to Morningside. Jim Pelton was named All-Tour- ney team for the Bishop Montgomery tournament, and injured his back before the first league game. Injuries and illnesses plagued the team throughout the season, but they were able to stay in contention for the league title.
