JUNIORS SENIORS BATTLE FOR VICTORY. The Seniors and Junior girls were preparing for the tradi- tional and highly emotional Powder Puff Game. This year however, there was to be a change. The Senior class, being in charge of the game decided to use their creativity and hold the game at night. With the approval of the Faculty and Administration, the game was set for November 20, 1979. The Senior girls, who were ready and anxious to play, were coached by Jim Andrade and Steve Paul. The girls who came to early Saturday morning practices, were deter- mined to defend their title. They had high hopes of being the first class in Bishop Montgomery ' s history to have won the Powder Puff Game two years in a row. The Junior girls, who had never participated in the Pow- der Puff Game, gathered as a team for the first time. Their coaches, Mr. Brown, Mr. Walker, and Mr. Martinez, showed them the fundamentals of football. The coaches observed a lot of hidden talent and had high hopes for the game. The date of November twentieth came at last. The Senior and Junior girls participating in the game wore shirts and ties of their class colors to show their spirit. Ail players were ready and anticipated the game. At the shot of the gun the game began. During the first quarter the game remained scoreless. At the half time the score was 6-0, the Seniors favor. The touch down, made by LuLu Fernandez was made just as the gun sounded the end of the second quarter. The halftime performances were made by the supportive Senior and Junior guy cheerleaders. At this time the Pow- der Puff King was announced. John Mellis was the honored King for the year of 1979. The kick off of the second half brought about a very competitive effort by both teams. Each team played to their fullest capacity. The Juniors, opened the scoring with a long bomb for a touchdown to Cathy Browning. The score was now tied, 6-6. Both teams struggled for the lead, with the Juniors scoring in the final moments of the game. The game ended with the score 12-6. This was one of the best games played in the Powder Puff history at B. M. H. S. The outstanding players of the Senior team were Sharon Me- dina, LuLu Fernandez, Paula Stacek, and Karen (the crush) Moschel. The outstanding players of the Junior teams were Carrie Brown, Patty Shelter, and Jocelyn Hil- lard. This game was exciting as it was successful. 1. His majesty.
