Exchange Students Enjoy Miege Bea Tyon, a Sioux Indian from Pine Ridge, South Dakota, attended classes at Miege for the last month of school. Bea was a sophomore. Bea said she liked Miege, though it was rather big and confusing compared to her old school with an enrollment of 400. She chose Mr. Tylicki's third hour American History class as her favorite. Bea stayed with Mrs. Naomi Brownell, office secretary, while attending Miege and returned to Pine Ridge after completing the year here. Vera Novakovic, senior, came from Cacak, Yugoslavia. She made many friends at Miege and was reluctant to leave at the end of the year. Vera made first honors on the honor roll, carrying a heavy load of classes including Chemistry, Physics and Analysis. At the end-of-year awards assembly she received the International Goodwill Award. After graduation she returned to Yugoslavia to attend a university in the fall. Because of her interest in film- making, she would like to have a career as a director. Vera stayed with the family of Mary Kay Dooley. Shkib Ahmad from Kabul, Afghanistan, has already graduated from his home high school and is attending Miege to improve his English communication-skills. I like M.iege, I like Miegians, I like Kansas City, was Shkib's response to Miege. He is returning to Miege next year and will spend two more years in Kansas City. Bea Tyon, a sophomore from Pine Ridge, South Dakota, learns the combination on her new locker. Vera and Shkib meet on the common grounds of living in the U.S. and Vera Novakovic is surprised with the gift of a class ring from her friends. speaking English as a second language although they live in different Senior Jan Bird looks on. parts of the World- 25
