Carrig' l o o F J BROSCHART ODE TO A YEA RBOOK Once upon a time in the land of hushabye, around about the wondrous days of yore, there was a yearbook, and this yearbook had a stafh bound up with chains and locked with locks, headed by an editor-not really a boy-but a man: and h they called him John. Now this editor was good, like all editoris should, around about the wondrous days ofyore. And in this land of hushabye I there was a god who was known as the Nebraska Red Headw, who was feared by all in the land. But god spoke tog ' 1 John-saying Hjohn, who I am well pleased with, you shall be made Leader ofthe people called YEARBOOK. And you shall have dominion over themv. But, then along came SAM, tall, strong SAM, cool talkin, SAM, smooth walkin,SAM, And the Red Haired Onevsaid to SAM 'iSam, you shall be made second only to John in the landu-and SAM left-all in those wondrous days ofyore. V' And the days dragged into months-because a camera was thrown into the yearbook machinery, and every one remained calm and the 'Nebraska Red Headii said Sue the ---- if-And they werenit. 1 Meanwhile, back at the YB ranch, Dave fthe slavej, Mike fthe hickj and Dave fthe ravej were waiting for night fall, so they could all get stoned againi' ergo: to work on Mustang 373. And John said Work, you rascalsi, but they would not-And after work was finished they rested-saying Weiue worked Hushabye work-Weive drunk Hushabye wine-Weive eaten Hushabye fmacj food. Itis been a good Hushaby dayn. And John said i'It is goodvand The Head said 'Tt is gooduand all of the people YEARBOOK waited for Godot saying- Do you walk to McNamara or take your Lunchw? foe Casta 4' Editors Note: Sam only left in body-his displaced mind wandered in and out of meetings aimlessly, for years afterward. 118 i 'lazy , V , ' 'IH fr ' 11' I: gif 3555.6 lui , 1 Q. K Errr . . . Foster again?! Our Editor Qi 1 EDITOR ,S OTES 120 E VER Y school publishes a yearbook which reflects the important events and occurrences that took place within that school year. The staffofMustang '73 lzad three specific objectives: fl! To produce a yearbook that would set a precedent for future Mustang publications. Q! To depict the resurgence ofthe 'McNamara Spirit 131 To arrange for the photographing and publication for next year 's production. OVER COMING many initial enigma 's, the staff thrusted an overwhelming amount of hours into the production. This publication is a polished chronicle of the school year activities. We hope that we have instilled a growing enthusiasm for the continuation ofa superior annual and that ensuing yearbooks will improve, as the Spirit ofMcNamara improves. We did achieve our goals. ONE man who deserves rnuch credit and praise is Mr, Gerald Carrig. He incurred no obligation to moderate this yearbookg yet, despite the lack of glamour involved in this tedious project, found time to do so. He struggled along with tlze staff on endless nights, sacrificing his time for the completion of the yearbook. With Mr, Carrigs assistance, we accomplished this feat. HOPEFULL Y, this is symbolic of a new cycle at McNamara,' one that excludes friction and incorporates cooperation. THE Mustang staff did more than its slzare to put the yearbook back on its feet. Now it will be the responsibility of the class of 1974 and those after it, to continue to build upon this firm foundation. YOU have everything to gain.
