Nu Precious Blood Sister Gabr1el..'lxtl.lllTS, science and religion in- structor arranges a center piece for the table. The Congregation of the Sister Adorers of the Most l7rt-cious Prlood was established through a young Italian girl. lVlaria de Mattias. at .'Xcuto. ltalv. Since that vear in l834. the Congregation has grown until it embraces nine provinces. six in liur- ope and three in America. The characteristic spirit of the lnstitute is. of course. its devotion to the Xlost Precious Blood of .lesus Christ. The Precious Blood sister pays honor to the ob- ject of their devotion even by the symbolism of the dzstinctive garb she wears. The wine :olor of her cineture and sash reminds her of the price of her redemption. Seven red tassels at each end of the sash are symbolic of the seven blood sheddings of Our lord and His seven last words on the cross. Down the front of the cape are seven buttons symbolizing the seven sorrows of Nlary. while the small golden heart suspended from a chain is a reminder of the Divine lleart from which flowed the blood ol the Savior.
